Hi!
So recently Firefox's UI is completely broken to an extent that several sites and features are unusable because of things like invisible form elements and white text on white background, both of which ignores even local CSS so there is no workaround. See: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1263427
Downgrading gtk3 didn't fix it (someone suggested it's a gtk issue not FF issue so I tried), and for the time being I tried to downgrade firefox instead because I rely on it for my work (no, Chrome or other browsers can't do it, I need functionality I could not find outside FF and its addons.
). however, older versions won't start, and I have really no idea where to proceed from this, what other packages to downgrade, or such... The error I get is:
XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/firefox/libxul.so:
libicui18n.so.56: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Couldn't load XPCOM.Any ideas how to make downgraded Firefox run?

Well, Firefox depends on icu, and the previous Firefox version is linked against the older icu version. In my opinion, the best temporary option would be to use the binary provided by Mozilla itself.

Maybe take a look at FF build against of gtk2 only? We have 2 packages in AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/firefox-gtk2 and https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/firefox-gtk2-bin/. I suggest try *-bin version, because it's only rebuild from Mozilla's "bin" version without any compilation. First one is build from sources and this proces is long lasting.

You could trying removing it completely and installing an older working version from your pacman cache.

That worked like a charm, everything seems to work! Thank you very much! ![]()
I may actually keep this for a while until gtk3 is more reliable.
