[solved] Icons messed up after system upgrade

After upgrade GNOME, a whole bunch of stuff broke. The most annoying of these is that a bunch of icons are missing: http://i.imgur.com/Nj0fsGw.png

Even with the default GTK and icon themes, it looks like this.

Any ideas?

The OP contacted me by email and asserted that they are using the default theme.  I will reopen this thread and move it to Desktop Environments

As to the other stuff broken, GDM won't log in anymore. I had to switch to lightdm.

please check .gtkrc-2.0  and .config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini in your home folder --> look for "gtk-icon-theme-name=xxx", if there is something else put Adwaita or hicolor or try few other icons themes you have in /usr/share/icons and recheck status of your missing icons.

Yes!  Thank you, that fixed it for me too.  Man, this was driving me insane....

I managed to solve this issue reinstalling librsvg
