[edit 2]
sorry not solved, i played yesterday 6 hours without a glitch, and today it bugs again, grrrr
[/edit]

Hi,

My laptop is a gigabyte p34w with Geforce GTX 970M, with last prorietary drivers.
i bought xcom2 from steam but i can't launch it.
It warns me that my gpu is not suported wich is not true
It doesn't crash, i have the first screen with options, but when i launch the game, the display is shifted on top-left, i can see only a part of it
The cursor is also offset from the interface.

I tried with bumblebee (primus bridge) (borderlands and all my others games are runing perfectly with this config) :

LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/nvidia/libGL.so __GLVND_DISALLOW_PATCHING=1 %command%

i also tried with nvidia-xrun from aur, same result
i tried the

unset LC_ALL

trick, same resut
i tried nvidia-settings and nvidia-xconfig but i can't even launch my x-server/desktop (kde) with that (i don't know anything about xorg settings)

please tell me what i can provide as information to help to understand what is happening here ?

some ouputs

Re: Steam XCOM2 bad display, unplayable

The fullscreen option in games often like to behave crappy like that. Try playing around with the options of the game.

In the options of the game, set it to use a window, then back to fullscreen. See if the game has two different fullscreen options, one that's named just "fullscreen" and one that's has something about "window" in its name. Try both of those.

You could just play in a window instead, then maximize it through your window manager. Your window manager might also have a fullscreen option that you could try to use instead of the game's own fullscreen option.

Your window manager might have a hotkey to toggle a program between window and fullscreen. That key might do something interesting in the moment you have that strange problem in your screenshot. Pressing it twice might fix the problem.

Try pressing the workspace switch keys of your window manager. Switch away from the workspace where you had started your game, then switch back.

Re: Steam XCOM2 bad display, unplayable

I had the same issue when using optirun with the either virtualgl or primus bridge. However it did work fine when used with nvidia-xrun.

I did eventually get it working with the primus bridge, but only if I manually set the LD_PRELOAD with the same that I use to start steam, for some reason the $ aren't escaped when using primus and are interpreted by the shell instead.

This might help if you are already needing to set these to start steam.

LD_PRELOAD='/usr/$LIB/libstdc++.so.6 /usr/$LIB/libgcc_s.so.1 /usr/$LIB/libxcb.so.1 /usr/$LIB/libgpg-error.so' optirun -b primus %command%

If you want the steam overlay you would need to add that into the LD_PRELOAD variable as well.

Hope this helps!
