Adjust resolution - xorg for laptop

I have tried to adjust the xorg.conf file to reflect my 1280x800 resolution.

I have edited the xorg.conf file the same way I do everytime I load Fedora on to it, however xorg seems to be ignoring that and staying with 1024x....

Is there another place I need to be looking or something else to edit......

p.s just starting with arch but already loving it alot "pacman" is great, well done to all developers and contributors to the project........

What's your chipset? You probably need this utility to temporarily patch your VBIOS.

i had problems right off the start with arch in getting the correct resolution. i could have sworn i installed the nvidia drivers, but i forgot and that was my problem. installing the drivers helped me out there, it may help you.

Re: Adjust resolution - xorg for laptop

First at all, kill you desktop enviroment. later, in the console put:

Xorg -configure

after that you run the DE. if that doesn`t work, try

xorgcfg -textmenu

and choose your destiny...

P.S.: if you want accel for your ATI, download ati-fglrx driver from the repository (with pacman)
