Ugh, rebooted my server last night and got these lovely messages:
mount: Mounting none on /new_root/initrd failed: no such file or directory
switch_root: Bad console '/dev/console'
Kernel panic - not syncing: attempted to kill init!
and of course the obligitory lilo.conf entry:
image=/boot/vmlinuz26beyond
label=beyond
root=/dev/hda1
read-only
initrd=/boot/initramfs-beyond.img
I booted back into archck and ran migrate-udev as suggested in another thread, but that didn't fix it.

wierd.
give mkinitcpio a shot, chances are it will work much better than mkinitramfs:
pacman -S testing/mkinitcpio

Bah. I accidently specified hda1 instead of hdd1. I would see if that fixed it, but my BIOS is fargled (I have no idea why, but it hangs at POST)
