Dell U2717D HDPi monitor connected to Display port of Lenovo T530

Hi All,

I am writing in the hope that someone might know how I can set up my Lenovo T530 to use a Dell U2717D ultra high definition monitor connected via the Display Port. My laptop is always run from mains power so I'd be happy to abandon the switching functionality and just run all graphics through the GPU if that fixed things.

At present, when I plug it in, although the monitor does detect a connection, I have a blank screen and it says there is no signal coming from the computer. My older monitor connected by a VGA socket worked fine. I have seen my new U2717D monitor work via HDMI connected to another computer.

I have bumblebee installed and am using an NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [NVS 5400M] (rev a1) (NVIDIA optimus) GPU.

Please let me know if any more information in addition to the below would help.
Thanks,

Simon

Each time I boot up the T530, I have to switch the graphics card on using

sudo tee /proc/acpi/bbswitch <<<ON

After this I see:

cat /proc/acpi/bbswitch
0000:01:00.0 ON

I have no xorg.config file and I have been unable to get  fn+F7 to do anything although for a thinkpad, this should change the display arrangements.

This is the graphics driver I use:

[simon@Simon-Arch ~]$ pacman -Q nvidia
nvidia 364.16-3

Kernel information:

[simon@Simon-Arch ~]$ sudo uname -svrmi
Linux 4.5.1-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Apr 14 19:19:32 CEST 2016 x86_64 unknown

My results from lspci:

glxgears runs fine but I need to specify optirun even when bbswitch is ON if I want to use the GPU :

optirun glxgears -info
