KDE - OpenGL backend causing problems with accessiblity effects

Hi,

I'm legally blind and recently switched over to KDE 5, which finally includes fully featured Desktop Zoom and Invert Colors plugins. This let me drop Compiz after years of using it only for those effects, and I've been enjoying having a modern WM / DE. Unfortunately, I've run into a couple problems that I hope someone can help me out with. For reference, I'm using the proprietary NVIDIA drivers (nvidia-364.19-1) with a GTX 780.

1. The main issue is that, whenever I zoom in, whatever Plasma elements I have open stay on the screen as a sort of blank after-image. For example, if I press Alt-F2 when I'm zoomed in, no matter where my view is zoomed, a blank version of the search bar appears in the size and position it would have on an unzoomed screen. I hope that makes sense. The same thing happens with any panels, widgets, etc. Of course, I can work around this issue by not using any Plasma elements, but I would rather not do that. The weird thing is that I can fix it by switching from OpenGL to XRender, but the Invert Colors plugin doesn't work with that backend.

2. A related problem is that when I choose the Push mode for the Zoom plugin, it works for a while, and then will randomly switch to the Proportional mode without warning. If I manually switch to the Proportional mode, it will stay there, but the Push mode is significantly more usable for me. This problem also seems to go away when I switch to XRender, but since it comes up so randomly, I can't be sure. And again, since I can't invert colors with XRender, it's not really an option.

If anyone who knows more about this kind of thing than I do (which should be quite a few people on this forum) could help me, I'd really appreciate it.
