I tried disabling in grub but it didn't work:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="transparent_hugepage=never"
sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
sudo reboot
cat /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled
# [always] madvise never
cat /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/defrag
# [always] madvise never
Are there any other ways to disable transparent_hugepage?

/etc/tmpfiles.d/local.conf
w /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled - - - - never
w /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/defrag - - - - never

I came across this post while trying something similar. Here's what my /etc/tmpfiles.d/local.conf looks like ->
w /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/khugepaged/max_ptes_none - - - - 0
w /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/defrag - - - - defer+madvise
w /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled - - - - always
On reboot, I still see ->
cat /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled
# always madvise [never]
Other params are set correctly.
Any workaround or thoughts on what could be going wrong?
Thanks
