No more caps lock indicator on Gnome login screen?

Hi
As far as I can remember, there used to be an icon signaling that my keyboard had caps lock inside the password box on the login screen of Gnome. Now this seems to have disappeared (& I've struggled recently with caps lock issue). My laptop doesn't have LED for the caps lock, so this was very convenient. Has this functionality been removed? I couldn't find anything via internet search. Is there any way to have it back?
