Kernel panics on boot on Dell Inspiron Inspiron 7548

I am trying to install arch on a Dell Inspiron 15 7548 but when I boot into the installation menu and press <Enter>, arch will not finish booting without several restarts. It will dump a number of messages into my screen that look like output from dmesg and freeze for a while (kernel panic?). Sometimes it continues, sometimes it doesn't. After enough times turning my laptop off and on again (with the physical off and on button) it will finish booting (and I will get a shell prompt).

This is the closest issue I found: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=200763, and I realize this is not much information but I don't know where to find dmesg when booting from the USB stick. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Laptop/Dell specifies that if this happens then I should "replace the 'keyboard'-hook with the specifc module." I assume this is talking about the HOOKS in the /etc/mkinitcpio.conf file, but I don't know what the specific module is.
