[Solved] Unable to Boot after Install

Hi All,

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Problem: Hangs During Boot

I almost think it's a graphical issue of some sort as journalctl says the startup has finished.

I'm just unable to see the command prompt the screen just has all the output from the boot process rather than the terminal.

It seems I can change tty's according to journalctl - I just can't see the changes on screen. Anyone seen this before?

Output from journalctl and example of screen i'm hung on:

Hardware: Asus Maximus VII Hero, i7-4790k, G.Skill Trident 16GB @ 2400, EVGA 980 TI ACX 2.0+ (lots of HD's)
ISO Used: archlinux-2016.05.01-dual
USB Drive for Installer prepped with RUFUS
opted for legacy bios as EFI was not playing nicely

Dedicated Samsung 850 EVO 500GB for install:

Any help is appreciated.

Re: [Solved] Unable to Boot after Install

What are you trying to boot into: console or something graphical? What graphics card and driver? What is in the journal (chroot in if necessary)? Xorg log if you are trying to enter a graphical environment.

Re: [Solved] Unable to Boot after Install

Trying to boot into the console - (to install something graphical)

Everything else requested should be in the first post via text and imgur links with periods replaced with (dot).

Please let me know if it's been stripped from the post.

EDIT,

Console, Nvidia 980TI (no driver loaded that i'm aware of), journal seems to indicate everything is loaded okay: http://i.imgur.com/86sH6l1.jpg

But in actuality this is what I see at that point: http://i.imgur.com/sPjh1sp.jpg

Don't post images of text, paste the actual text (in code blocks)...

I apologize I didn't know the best way to obtain the data that way without being able to boot into the OS.

I'll reflash my usb with ubuntu or something and try the mount and chroot commands and see if I can get the output easier to read form.

Can you switch to another TTY?

Re: [Solved] Unable to Boot after Install

In journal it seems like it allows it but it doesn't show it on my screen - the screen stays frozen like the picture i posted.

To clarify:

When I try nothing happens

When I chroot and read journal it appears it worked, my screen is just frozen and not showing me that it does.

I think that is why I can't see the console to simply continue on my merry way.

Re: [Solved] Unable to Boot after Install

Install the driver for your card and try again.
