[Solved] Adding the japanese locale

I'm trying to add the japanese locale, or, at least, get the japanese subtitles from the movies to render correctly. I've installed a bunch of fonts:

$ sudo pacman -S adobe-source-han-sans-jp-fonts  otf-ipafont  ttf-sazanami ttf-hanazono

If I remember correctly previously I installed a few other japanese fonts as well. However, here's what I see in a movie with the japanese subtitles:

I haven't set up the input method yet, but I already should be able to see the subtitles correctly, shouldn't I? In the browsers, however, I can and always have been able to see the japanese fonts and text well.

# pacman -Qs kanji

Re: [Solved] Adding the japanese locale

I think I've already installed it:

$ sudo pacman -Qs kanji
[sudo] password for arch:
local/ttf-hanazono 20160201-1

and

$ sudo pacman -S adobe-source-han-sans-jp-fonts  otf-ipafont  ttf-sazanami ttf-hanazono
[sudo] password for arch:

Which media player are you using? Have you tried it with some other media player as well?

How did you fix it? Elaborate.

See: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … way_street

Also mark the thread as solved.

Re: [Solved] Adding the japanese locale

I choose the proper font in the settings of VLC for Subtitles, some of them support japanese, some don't.
