How to change back to default GNOME greeter?

I originally installed gnome but later wanted to try Cinnamon DE. After a while I realised I preferred gnome so I removed cinnamon. The issue was that the greeter remained the same. Even after I removed all dependencies of cinnamon I could find it remained. Since the cinnamon greeter became corrupt and unusable (UI elements messed up/missing) I went ahead and installed lightdm-gtk-greeter and added/changed greeter-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter in the /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf. It works now but Iam not sure if this is the correct way to change the greeter not to mention that I want the default gnome greeter. If I restart GDM service form command line the default gnome login screen appears as normal. I simply want to go back to the default gnome greeter. How can I achieve this? I couldn't even find the name of the greeter that gnome uses. Any help appreciated.

Didn't get the notification so sorry for such a long delay in my reply. The system showed some other major issues so I ended up having to reinstall to fix the issue.
