[SOLVED] Loosing keyboard configuration in mate (us international)

Configuration :
Up-to-date Arch, Xorg, Mate, LightDM with gtk greeter.

I' ve configured my keyboards in :

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/00-keyboard.conf
Section "InputClass"
        Identifier "system-keyboard"
        MatchIsKeyboard "on"
        Option "XkbLayout" "us"
        Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
        Option "XkbVariant" "intl"
EndSection

And in System > Hardware > Keyboard Preferences I've added
English (US) English (US, international with dead keys)

Despite all this when I'm logging in the dead keys are not working, which is a hassle to write in French guys.

What's the problem here ? all looks fine to me and I can't see the beginning of an explanation...

You've just added it? Maybe another keyboard layout in mate is still in the list, active, and has precedence. I deleted all other entries from the list as I hate it switching to US or German without reason.

Thanks for your answer, no it is an old configuration. To make it work I had to switch to another layout then to switch back.

Actually, I thinh I somehow know where this comes from : I have in the same install Cinnamon, Mate, Gnome3... I use only mate, but it looks like some old gnome3 setting is picked up by some applications and fickle with mate's settings...

Re: [SOLVED] Loosing keyboard configuration in mate (us international)

Ok, so I just removed everything :
pacman -Rscn gnome
pacman -Rscn deepin
pacman -Rscn cinnamon

... And so far it works. My guess is that somehow mate is permeable to settings in Gnome or Cinnamon, Or, because I was losing keyboard configuration when switching to some applications (like shutter, heavily gnome based), that those applications somehow managed to switch the keyboard preferences, perhaps because they have some config that looks first and foremost to some gnome3 preferences before mate's ?

The behaviour was strange, actually, I had set several keyboard layouts (us-intl, fr) and whenever I used to type in those odd applications, I lost the settings to switch back to some basic us, and even lost the keyboard switcher in the notification area... To get it back, I had to change some settings in the keyboard, like putting the fr on top of the us-intl, then save and then it was back. What a hassle.

Anyways it seems to be solved, I let this here anyway but no time for further testing sorry.
