Having difficulty getting proper playback from various video files

CPU: i7-6700k
GPU: iGPU of the CPU
DE: Gnome
Video Player: GNOME MPlayer

After trying to get Gnome Videos to play well with my video files (mostly mp4), it was creating a horrible screetchy noise at the beginning of the videos. So, I've decided to go back to using Gnome Mplayer. However, I'm having a hard time finding information to set it up properly.
works
Also, my main two problems with it are that whenever I click on a separate windows (have a dual monitor setup), the video playback goes stutters black twice. This only happens once when focus changes and doesn't repeat until the MPlayer window regains and reloses focus. And when I click on a specific time on the playback line (?) below, it isn't precise. It snaps to specific places and won't just skip to the place I clicked. This goes as far as 1 to 2 whole minutes back or forth from where I initially wanted it to go to.

How can I fix those? Also, how should I set gnome mplayer up?

Video Output:
gl works
gl2 works
gl3 doesn't work
x11 works
xv works
xvmc works
vaapi doesn't work
vdpau works

I have no clue which one to choose, and what the differences even are.

Enable Video Hardware Support causes the player to freeze.
Enable CrystalHD Hardware Support doesn't do anything.

Any other tips are also appreciated.
