Hi,
I've tried to install Arch Linux onto a thumb drive. Everything appears have gone to well until I try to boot.
I have provide parameters such as '--removable' and '--recheck' to grub-install but these have not helped.
It seems unable to find the root filesystem and then I'm dropped out into a single user console. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact error message off hand.
As an aside, I'll create a separate post for this. In the single user mode the keyboard and mouse do not work.
Sorry for the lack of detail.

Too add a little more detail to this story. The install on to the thumb drive was done by booting the LiveCD in virtualbox and then mounting the thumb drive in that environment. Where in it has all ways been the intention to boot the thumb drive as a live system.

You probably just need to boot the fallback initrd -- the normal image will be optimised for Virtualbox's virtual hardware.

Hi WorMzy.
Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Hi WorMzy.
That has allowed me to make progress. I'll update this thread once I've had time to investigate. The boot process doesn't quite finish but that I'll have to look into later.
Thank you.
