gnome-volume-manager problem

Hello,

I'm using GNOME 2.14 with Arch Linux and having a problem with gnome-volume-manager I guess... When I plug my USB harddisk or my iPod, it automatically places an icon in My Computer section but doesn't automatically mount it. I requires that I click on the icon; so it mounts without any problem.

But I want it to be automatically mounted and opened.. I've allready selected the necessary options in the Mountable Drive Settings section..

What can really be the problem ? I searched the Arch Linux forum but couldn't find a solution.. I made a ps aux and I can say that gnome-volume-manager works..

I hope somebody can help about this problem..

Thanks a lot for such a distro..!

Re: gnome-volume-manager problem

You shuold look through some logs, or kill gnone-volume-manager and then start i again form a terminal, and see if it compalins about anything(when you insert a removable device).

I ran gnome-volume-manager with the -n option and here's the output when I plugged my USB drive:

Re: gnome-volume-manager problem

Yeah, the new gnome-volume-manager asks HAL to mount stuff across DBUS. In short, only members of certain user groups are allowed to request mount/umount for certain kinds of device. Try adding yourself to the 'storage' group.

I had to find that out the hard way too...
