Hello,
on a fresh Arch install SDDM shows only the us layout (only the US flag in the dropdown menu).
On the console the german layout works like it should and localectl says:
# localectl
System Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
VC Keymap: de-latin1-nodeadkeys
X11 Layout: de
X11 Model: pc105
X11 Variant: nodeadkeys
# cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/00-keyboard.conf
# Read and parsed by systemd-localed. It's probably wise not to edit this file
# manually too freely.
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "system-keyboard"
MatchIsKeyboard "on"
Option "XkbLayout" "de"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"
EndSection
Any idea what's missing? Is is possible that other layouts than us need to be installed seperatly?
Though everything seems to be in place:
root@marduk /home/florian # localectl list-x11-keymap-layouts | grep de
de
root@marduk /home/florian # localectl list-x11-keymap-models | grep pc105
pc105
root@marduk /home/florian # localectl list-x11-keymap-variants | grep nodeadkeys
[...]
nodeadkeys
Thanks!

Try issuing
localectl set-x11-keymap
More on the wiki article https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SD … ard_layout

That's what I did
localectl set-x11-keymap de pc105 nodeadkeys
to achive the result above.

Hi, have you set locale in settings-regional settings?

Sorry, what setting you mean?

in the destopk, settings or preferences>regional settings.
English is my second languaje, is the destopk settings in the menu go to regional settings and there check if is set to your country, that is what do that SDDM show your layout.

Hey,
I'm not using a desktop, just i3 as a window manager. There is no desktop setting for the language.

My sddm login just changes to my locale ("de") right when I start typing into the passwd field. Before it stays on "us".
Strange behaviour by sddm (I would call it a bug), but it works.
