Change Display Brightness (NVIDIA)

I'm running Arch on an HP Laptop, with an NVIDIA Quadro K1100M graphics card (with nvidia-340xx drivers). Unfortunately, I'm not able to change the display brightness when using the hotkeys. I am running Gnome3 as my desktop environment and when using the hotkeys, it shows how the brightness should be changed, in form of a bar, but the brightness stays the same.
I just recently switched from Ubuntu to Arch, however I had the same problem when using Ubuntu. I know other people have had this problem and I've tried many solutions which came up when I searched the internet for it, but neither one of them worked for me. Not on Arch, not on Ubuntu.
Can anyone who has had the problem, recently, help me solve it?

Unfortunately this didn't change anything. Do I have to combine it with something?

Re: Change Display Brightness (NVIDIA)

I was finally able to solve this problem. My hotkeys still don't work as they should, but I found a great workaround.
When typing:

xbacklight -dec 20

the brightness goes down. With:

xbacklight -inc 20

you can increase the brightness. Now just add those commands as keyboard shortcuts to any combination of your choice and you should be good to go.

You may need to install nvidiabl from the AUR.
Works like a charm on my HP EliteBook 8560W with Nvidia Quadro 1000M.

There is no system but GNU and Linux is one of its kernels.

Tried it, doesn't work for me either. Thanks either way! Any other ideas?
