I have a Radeon R9 390 installed even though whenever I run
lspci
It says
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Hawaii PRO [Radeon R9 290] (rev 80)
Whenever I run
journalctl -p 3 -xb
I get the error message
radeon 0000:01:00.0: Invalid PCI ROM header signature: expecting 0xaa55, got 0xffff
Has anyone here experience this before and if so how do I fix it?

The lspci output looks fine to me. It's highly unlikely the card being detected as the 290 versus the 390 has anything to do with anything. The journal output *may* be concerning if you have having serious issues, failures, or otherwise. But since you haven't really given us an issue to work with (crash? black screen?? specific app not working with that video card???) there isn't much to be done. Some warnings/errors are reasonably harmless.

There have been no issues yet. I just didn't know if it's something that needs to be dealt with.

I dont want to hijack the thread would just like to say that I get the same error message as angelo1. I have r390x and I have the same lspci output as you angelo1.
In my case I can not play movies the system freezes or reboots. angelo1 can you play movies or tv series with mpv ?

I have the same card and error message. Early KMS doesn't seem to work with it, so Plymouth reverts to text only. Otherwise, it works great after boot.
@b0f00narch, sounds like a hardware issue. These cards have pretty decent support in the kernel, unless you're using another driver. I would recommend starting a new thread for the issue, or feel free to PM me.

b0f00narch,
I haven't tried to use mpv. So far I haven't had any noticeable performance issues. I'm just wondering what's causing the error.

if you flip the little switch on your card it no longer does this, theres little to no documentation on the switch im told it works like a double uefi bios
