Memory leak from cache to swap, failing to start journalling service

Hi, in the past, I have used Architect and Cnchi installers, so I have avoided using the forums. Look at me go eh.
Anyway, this time I have installed Arch Linux, The Arch Way on my HP Pavillion x2.

I chose fat32 for my boot partition,
ext2 for root and home partitions,
plus a linux-swap partition 0.8 GiB larger than the amount of RAM. (just to fill out the remainder of drive space)

Since my internet is annoyingly slow, I pre-downloaded my necessary packages from the web portal, created a repository on a usb drive, and used that for the install.

After installation, every few minutes, I would get a message saying ~ "failed to start journal service"
I would like to assume it is a seperate issue from the memory leak because systemd might cater to the ext4 (journalling) filesystem since that is what most people are using..

Before starting this post, the output of "free -h" was:

- total used free shared buff/cache available
mem: 3.3G 58M 3.1G 552K 185M 3.0G
swap: 4.1G 0B 4.1G

Now when I enter "free -h" again:

- total used free shared buff/cache available
mem: 3.3G 57M 2.1G 552K 1.2G 2.0G
swap: 4.1G 0B 4.1G

After 30 mins or so, i am revoked access to the terminal, and given a slew of messages, one of them being "---[ end Kernel panic - not syncing: Out of memory and no killable processes..."
At that time, I snapped a photo. If I can figure out how to upload it here, I will.

notable pages ive seen while searching the net:

https://www.gnu.org/software/hurd/open_ … _leak.html
http://www.unixmen.com/how-to-clear-mem … x-servers/
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=292543

...

I masked the service and rebooted, but didnt setup a cron job because the commenters advised against it. the device still has the memory problem.

FYI.....  You can't upload photos here. You have to upload them somewhere else and link to them.
