I print to a networked printer (Ricoh Aficio MP C300 PS) through cups. The printouts appear with some math symbols absent from the equations. The minus sign (-) is a symbol always missing. Is anyonle else having the same problem? Please let me know how this can be fixed.

Possibly a driver issue - which driver are you using (presuming you are running a local cups server here)?
http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Ric … io_MP_C300
gives two recommendations depending if your device has postscript support or not and I notice these are available in the AUR...

Just saw your reply, thanks. Let me try your suggestions on the drivers.

I'm having the exact same problem but with another brand (HP Photosmart Premium All-in-one Printer Series - c309g). Sometimes a page in a PDF document is correctly printed but not the next one. Font is changed too.

It seems my problem was the evince pdf reader. Even after installing the drivers above, the "-" symbol would not print. But, the document printed correctly with okular pdf reader. (Too bad mupdf doesn't have a print option).

Glad you figured it out: please remember to prepend "[SOLVED]" to your first post.
Don't forget you can also print pdf files directly from the command line using lpr, which can easily highlight software issues of this type.
