Gnome multi-monitor: applications opening on wrong screen

Hello all,

I have an external monitor connected to my laptop running Arch. The external monitor is set up as primary display. Most applications appear there when started.
But Nautilus and some others (e.g. remmina remote desktop connections) insist on opening on the laptop screen instead, forcing me to drag the window over to my primary display.

How can I change this behavior?
