In the past we have had complaints about the use of "big" images in signatures, mainly due to bandwidth and readability concerns. It's not easy to stop people using images in their signatures and it's an easy route around the char limit. Avatars are restricted in size but sigs cannot be.
Anyway, let us know what you think in our 7 day poll.

not sure they add anything to forum ....

Hate them, in general, but the measure of hatred varies from case to case. I have been known to PM people asking them to remove offending signature bloat.

90 views and 11 votes? That's pathetic.

Disable bbcode and html in signatures.

they generally don't bother me unless they are rediculously huge and I rarely see many of them.
Offline
I would also disable sigs that include binary code.

No facility for that I'm afraid, Dusty. Aside from that you could only then have a plain text sig - no links or anything, which would suck for _many_ people.
Offline
I don't even see the sigs anymore when browsing, so I voted "dont' bother me"
No, I'm not using a blocker of any sort, just don't pay enough attention to sigs.

big in sense of a banner in every signature, i seriously hate that. big in a way of a couple of lines of text, like a good quote, these don't bother me at all.
it's just that most pictures in the signature look as if people try to silently brag with something.

doesnt bother me either way really. i've been known to have huge sig's and other times i just erase it all. i like the fact that we can choose though. if someone is abusing the freedom, then lets drop them a pm and the problem shuold dissapear. its really not that big a deal imho and it doesnt seem that there is any need to do anything above and beyond... but.. thats just my two cents

the point of that is? well, you could have done it all in one line. think of all the ten posts on one page having a similar sized signature. that would seriously wear off my cursor-down key.

ahah i feel sorry for your down key, or in my case my scroll wheel (still havent given up my mouse  )
sure it could be done in one line, but it wouldnt be as good looking... i guess its just a preference thing. but that being said, if you'd like me to change it then i'll be glad to move it all to one line.
i'll hafta see if i can dig up my old [H]ardforums sig from a few years ago... it was something like 15 lines of my computers specs and quotes from people from the forum. it went unnoticed for about 6 months then a mod pointed me to where they had set a 7 line limit for sigs in the rules.
i personally setup my signature as is, so that people can get a general feel of my computer without me having to post the full dmesg, lspci or something like that. its apparent that i have a radeon card from my sig, perhaps i "should check my fglrx driver if i have a problem with X" that kinda thing.
thats just how i've always used them and continue to use them today. i've never been a big user of pictures, i dont quite get the point of putting in a picture what can be done in text kinda a conky versus adesklet sysmon thing.

After 10 seconds of thinking, no one gives a crap about what song I just played

It's a bit like having a fat friend that wears unflattering clothes - you want to say something but you just can't...

long sigs are why the scroll wheel was invented. You could soo adjust the formatting of a forum to fit it into one browser screen, there's so much useless info.

I hate big signatures. Especially when they're bigger than the actual post itself.

Well, I think it's fair to say that the majority of users would be happier to see them go. Put something in the forum guidelines, and then the Forum Police can kindly pm offenders, or dtw could just do a bit of sql-wizardary to cull sigs from non-compliants.

The poll is about big signatures so I mess up really, it should have been about images and signatures:
