I made extensive tests on kernel 4.6 with the DA200.
First of all I can confirm it is working MUCH better comparing to 4.4 or 4.5.
No more pci hangs when disconnecting, and disconnecting and reconnecting makes it reappears correctly (video and ethernet).

VGA is working perfectly (connecting before, after sleep, or VGA connected to DA200 then connecting DA200 to XPS or DA200 to XPS without VGA and connecting VGA after, all combination are working like a charm
Exactly same result for HDMI and every single combination is working .. but.... impossible to get more than 1280x800 resolution!
I tested with two different HDMI cables and connected to a Samsung TV and a Dell external monitor.. same issue...

Anyone has the same issue? (impossible to reach full HD at least

EDIT: for Ethernet there is a big issue still, it is recognized but it is flapping; interface is here then disapear and sometimes I am lucky enough to get a working connection but as soon as no more traffic is sent the interface is unavailable again...

Just tested. I am able to reconnect fine. It doesn't matter if it's before, after or during sleep. Connected displays (devices) are identified and configured on the fly with no issue. All works really well. Not sure what device you are using, but maybe there is something wrong with resolution/framerate config on your side. See if the adaptor you are using (or the cable) is not rated for something and that's why it's failing. My HDMI 2.0 is arriving tomorrow and I'll update with more info on HiDPI and high refresh rate through the adaptor.

I've finally getting ASPM working on the NVMe device by resetting the bios to factory settings and only change SATA-controller to AHCI. Although I'm not yet sure if it's the result of the factory reset or because of some bios setting.

It seems that i915 params are not passed correctly...
My /etc/modprobe.d/i915.conf is this:

options i915 enable_rc6=7 enable_fbc=1 enable_psr=1 lvds_downclock=1

Even if used as kernel params they're not setted correctly

Thanks for testing this and comparing notes. Mine is running at the desired resolution fine (1680x1050), but I still definitely have problems with crashes/hangs on resume after using DP. It might possibly be some other device I'm connecting at the same time, or maybe my adapter is flaky somehow (hopefully the adapter and not the laptop!)

Guys, it turns out I was wrong. I do not get crashes, but the DA200 only connects with 720p for me. I cannot go higher... However, I got a USB-C to DisplayPort from Plugable and it works great. I don't have a 4K monitor, but I have tested up to 1440p and it's all good.

I also did a little digging and a lot of people are complaining about the DA200's limited bandwidth. On HDMI, it apparently can only go up to 2160x1152... So we are out of luck. But, I cannot even get close to that. Very unfortunate. Now I'm wondering if this is a Linux issue or the adaptor is bad, because with the USB->DP cable it all works... Anyone knows how to debug this?

My laptop is XPS 13 9350, i7, touchscreen with Iris 540 graphics card, kernel version is "4.5.4-1-ARCH" and BIOS version is 1.3.3.

After I installed Arch Linux I found sound didn't work.
I tried to run command "aplay -l" and it outputs "no soundcards found".

Did you raise the volume and/or unmute the channels? Take a look in alsamixer.

Sorry, I guess I didn't read your post carefully. Are the modules loaded? Any error in dmesg/journal? How did you install the arch kernel? Did you installed the binary or did you compile yourself abs/pkgbuild?

Does anyone have any problems with Bluetooth mice with the Intel 8260 card? Mine seems to be cutting out after several minutes, with no indication in dmesg. I've tried disabling tlp, and any related powersaving features in powertop, but seemingly without making any difference. The only workaround I've found is disabling and reenabling Bluetooth radio.

e: Also, Google Chrome 51 landed in Google's repository. This version seems to bring back the flickering we all know and love, regardless of it being run with --disable-gpu-driver-bug-workarounds --enable-native-gpu-memory-buffers. Seems to be a bit more tame as opposed to when running with default config.

Module "snd-hda-intel" was not loaded after I installed Arch Linux. I tried to add it to /etc/modules-load.d/ and then reboot, but the sound card still not worked.
I used package "linux" from official Arch Linux repo. And I also tried "linux-lts" / "linux-mainline" from AUR, but it still not worked.

try reseting your sound, my sound dissipated 2 weeks ago, i went into bios test and no sound was emitted, no errors was reported ... after resetting bios everything went fine ...
also try, disable sound. save, enable sound, save before bios reset

Any of you guys tried Linux 4.7? It makes up to the desktop and freezes the whole thing after 3 seconds or so...

Are you satisfied with the microphone quality?
Mine sounds quite 'hallow'... and I had already people complaining I was video chatting with.

There is not much I can do to improve it, right?

Building Linux v4.6 with these two patches fixes one of the ACPI errors at boot:

I haven't found any fixes the other ACPI errors.

When using external screens with my dock I get this error on v4.6:

It seems to be fixed in the drm-intel-nightly branch, but unfortunately that branch seems to introduce at least one new bug which makes my computer hang hard.
As far as I can tell these fixes haven't landed in 4.7 yet.

One funny observation with BIOS 1.3.3:
When booting from an EFI partition on a USB 3.x stick the kernel won't seem to recognise the stick after booting. Removing it and re-attaching it fixes it though. Booting from a USB 2.x stick has no such problems.

Oh I was able to 'improve' it.
I checked alsamixer and when selecting Capture of the sound card HDA Intel PCH I realized that L was on 0 and R on 28 (or so). (Surprisingly this was the case on the case with a fresh install).

Now after raising both to 28 it sounds good.

Since I had this laptop I was not able to enjoy video on website (Youtube, Netflix, ...) on Chromium in full screen without having weird lines and artefacts. I did not have this issue when I used mpv and VA-API for hardware decoding. I was able to solve it by using compton. It is linked to the way chromium render and specific option that compton set in X.

I am still not able to have the DA200 working in HDMI and VGA. I will try tomorrow with a new TV, maybe my adaptor is defective.

I have experienced a rather strange issue with my XPS 13 just few days ago. After connecting the charger, the indicator LED in front of the touchpad started blinking with an orange light (quite rapidly, 3-4 blinks per second), and the hardware battery indicator on the left (next to the headphones jack) blinks the 1st, 3rd and 5th battery LED, four times each time I press it. The battery does not seem to be charging, and the laptop only boots on AC. The moment I disconnect it from the charger the computer goes immediately off. This is true already during UEFI boot, so it looks like some hardware failure...

I am running arch on current kernel 4.5.4-1, and so far I was not able to determine what might have caused (definitely not physical damage).

Broken battery, definitely an hardware failure. Contact dell, they know the meaning of the blinking scheme.
