Problem with nvidia-304xx-libgl and lib32-nvidia-304xx-libgl (Solved)

GPU: GeForce GTX 670MX
DE: GNOME

I have GNOME installed on my laptop and have nvidia-304.xx nvidia-304xx-libgl and lib32-nvidia-304xx-libgl based on my NVIDIA version.

With nvidia-304xx-libgl and lib32-nvidia-304xx-libgl GDM and my panels after logging into GNOME do not respond to my cursor. I can only open applications in my system after choosing them from my keyboard after selecting them from 'search' after accessing that area with the cursor at the top left of my screen.

If I install mesa-libgl and lib32-mesa-libgl GDM login and my panels work as they should and respond to mouse clicks. However, my graphics show up as Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.8, 256 bits)

Appreciate any advice as to why nvidia-304xx-libgl and lib32-nvidia-304xx-libgl  and does not work as expected alongside nvidia-304xx and does so alongside mesa-libgl and lib32-mesa-libgl?

Which systemd and kernel versions are you using? Also, what are your machine's specs (CPU type and freq, RAM, make, model, and year- etc.).

Wow! Fast reply. Well done.

304 is really old. Run an update.

Here's something I posted on another thread regarding problems with NVIDIA. It may help you (hopefully).

"Below are the packages used on my desktop (NVIDIA GeForce GT-630):
libvdpau
    Nvidia VDPAU library
nvidia (364.19.3)
    NVIDIA drivers for linux
nvidia-libgl
    NVIDIA drivers libraries symlinks
nvidia-settings
Tool for configuring the NVIDIA graphics driver
nvidia-utils
    NVIDIA drivers utilities
xf86-video-nouveau (xorg-drivers xorg)
Open Source 2D acceleration driver for nVidia cards

I should also note that I'm running systemd 229 and kernel 4.5.4-1. The systemd version may very well be a factor. Problems such as yours do seem to be on the rise with 230. Then again, maybe not."

All the best.

p/ Nice machine, BTW.

Re: Problem with nvidia-304xx-libgl and lib32-nvidia-304xx-libgl (Solved)

Thanks, didn't think that the nvidia driver would support older versions. As per the wiki on nvidia

For GeForce 6000/7000 series cards [NV4x and NV6x] from around 2004-2006, install the nvidia-304xx or nvidia-304xx-lts package along with nvidia-304xx-libgl

.

I now have nvidia, nvidia-libgl, and lib32-nvidia-libgl and my problem is solved.

Good on ya!

The NVIDIA drivers are usually backward compatible. Wiki may need some attention. Here's the OEM recommendation for your device:

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverRe … 3306/en-us

FWIW, the recommendation is the very same for my vid card. But, as you've seen written above, I run the 364 per pacman. OEM site needs some attention too?

Update it. If you have problems, revert. That's my motto. lol

All the best.
