First time posting, and I'm also fairly new to Linux.
I have an installation of Arch on a USB key completely set up and working... on my laptop. However, I do most of my work through my desktop and would like to have it working on the desktop. I have the installation running and working on my laptop. I have not yet installed a desktop environment The only issue I have is every now and then the USB is not detected.
When I load it on the desktop, however, it gets decently far into booting up and the screen cuts off while the computer remains on. Any quick tips?

I'm a little bit upset I didn't find that myself. Thanks.
I reinstalled drivers and it was fixed when I installed the xf86-video-nouveau package. However, now my resolution is stuck at a solid 1024x768 on a 1920x1080 monitor.
When I throw xrandr I get
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 1024 x 768, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768
default connected 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm
1024x768 76.00*Hate to take up more time on a simple issue, but I can't seem to figure it out.
EDIT: I am on an nvidia 970 so I'm not sure why the nouveau package fixed it.
EDIT2:I am using deepin for my desktop enviroment, sorry for slow information.
Unsure whether I should keep editing or make a new post.
Last edit I hope. The resolution is fine on the laptop. Everything works perfectly fine on the laptop with the exception of the ethernet connection which I would fix if I had access to it while I was not at school. The wireless card works fine at home so it isn't an issue anyway. Regardless, only on the desktop does the resolution not match the monitor.

I fixed it. Apparently I missed one, the nvidia-libgl package fixed all my issues.
