vlc player stopped working

Can anyone advise on this error that I now get when I try and launch vlc.

vlc: error while loading shared libraries: libpostproc.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Thanks in advance.

Re: vlc player stopped working

This has been reported in the bugtracker. vlc should be rebuilt against the latest ffmpeg version.

You must downgrade with ffmpeg-20050806-1.pkg.tar.gz

Re: vlc player stopped working

I just symlinked /usr/lib/libpostproc.so.0 to /usr/lib/libpostproc.so and it worked.

But then the two movies I've tried to play since then didn't exactly have video, not sure if that's because of this.

Thanks for this.  Apart from the following error "cannot set local to ." when I start vlc, it now works fine.

Re: vlc player stopped working

Normally I hate downgrading, so I temporarily enabled /testing and did a "pacman -Sy vlc". This brought up and installed vlc-0.8.5-2 alone, and that new version works just fine. After that, commented back testing and all is well.
Anyway I'd rather use another player- I think ffmpeg is too CPU-hungry.
