Just updated my computer and it seems that I am unable to open blender.
Tried to open it by terminal.
user ~ $ blender
connect failed: no such file or directory
read new prefs: /home/user/.config/blender/2.77/config/userpref.blend
connect(2) call to /dev/shm/jack-1000/default/jack_0 failed (err=no such file or directory)
attempt to connect to server failed

It worked earlier not sure if it was because of new blender update or nvidia update that caused this problem.
Any clues how to fix?
Thanks in advance!

I was having the same issue. Building the package from source solved the problem for me. Although cuda support was disabled after that.

You need to be careful. Those blades in a stuck blender can be sharp. Some people have results loosening the stuck lid with dish soap and warm water.
Oh.
Wrong type of blender.

And probably the wrong place to post anything about blender

Anyway this is a known bug https://developer.blender.org/T49113 an is related to the Nvidia driver. Downgrading or waiting for an update to the Nvidia driver is the solution.

I can confirm nvidia is a problem. I currently have all nvidia packages pinned at 367. I've already posted an upstream bug report for nvidia a week ago (https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topi … -breaking/).

Apologies simplisticways - I shouldn't have been quite so flippant / tongue-in-cheek in reply to your first post!
I'm glad someone (Roken) provided a more serious and correct answer. Welcome to the Arch forum

Nvidia drivers got updated. I'm not at my PC right now to test it but I think updating it should work now.

Have you been able to test it?

Latest NV drivers are fine.
