KDE Help Needed [SOLVED]

After using arch on my laptop - I desided to use it on my desktop also..

But now comes the problems:
my Hardware is Asus P5P800 Motherboard
GeForce4 FX

After installing Arch Linux From New (0.7.1) and afterwards pacman -Syu
I want to install kde.
I install the whole package - but first did a
pacman -Sy xorg
pacman -Sy xterms

then get the whole package from KDE - and afterwards hwd.
then I tried to start the Xserver -following is written:
# X

X Window System Version 7.0.0
Release Date: 21 December 2005
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 7.0
Build Operating System:Linux 2.6.16-ARCH i686
Current Operating System: Linux Linux 2.6.16-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu May 11 07:20:39 CEST 2006 i686
Build Date: 04 May 2006
        Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org
to make sure that you have the latest version.
Module Loader present

(++) from command line, (!!) notice, (II) informational,
(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.

FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/share/fonts/misc:unscaled" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing.

After looking in /var/log/Xorg.log.0 there´s no errors.
after doing some ekstra reading about nvidia drivers and so I´ve installed those by pacman -S nvidia  and afterwars nvidia-xconfig.
My xorg.conf lies both /etc/X11/xorg.config and /root/xorg.config and looks like this:
  # nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig

are you sure that's the config file you are willing to use?
normally you should use /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Re: KDE Help Needed [SOLVED]

this is a quick and dirty reply
Try getting gdm or xdm. I had a similar problem. I put in gdm and it automatically seemed to be able to configure x for kde.
Also remember to add gdm to daemons as the last in the bracket in /etc/rc.conf
Finalyy did u try hwd of arch linux

Re: KDE Help Needed [SOLVED]

Yup - normally I use hwd -x tu generate my xorg.

No - not willing by meaning the best - But if thats what it takes to make it work - that the files lies in root (I´m only one user)
But I havent got this error before ... And its really not fun - when you take the final step to openSource !

Re: KDE Help Needed [SOLVED]

You should create yourself a regular user account. It is not safe to run the X-server as root.

How do you start kde? If you use startx, put:
exec /opt/kde/bin/startkde
in ~/.xinitrc

Re: KDE Help Needed [SOLVED]

I got it to work!

I just notice that that nvidia still should be written in rc.conf as a module!

I thought that arch was over that point ?????

Buth is it possible to get  a higher resolution to work!
My screen is a viewsonic VP2030b and have tried to get this one to work
