Re: cannot get network manager applet to work

It is networkManager that does the work.  The applet is just one of many ways to control NetworkManager.

How did you install Arch? Using the wired Network?  If so, does wired work now?
What is the make and model of your wireless network?  Did the wireless work while you were installing?

Using a console, enable and start NetworkManager.  It really is all here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NetworkManager

Also, as a sanity check. does the network show up in the output of ip link   ?
If you read the output of iw list (it is lengthy) does it describe your wireless card?

Re: cannot get network manager applet to work

Thank you for the quick response. I am not entirely sure what i did to get it working ,but it is working. I believe that I may have had conflict between netctl and network manager.
I disabled/enabled between the two,and 3 hours later I must have got it right.
And I did spend a lot of time in the wiki before I reached out.
Thank you again for the response, it is greatly appreciated.
