What the heck is going on with Adblock in Chrome?

Although it's not strictly Arch related, Adblock -plus has suddenly been replaced by Adblock developer's edition which does not block ads. Under options the checkbox " Allow some non-intrusive advertising" is checked and will not remain unchecked. I've reinstalled adbock-plus from the Chrome store to no avail. Google-chrome and Chromium exhibit the same behavior. WTF?

Drop it and use Ublock Origin. Adblock has sucked for years

Thanks for the info. Installed Ublock Origin and it works flawlessly.
