flag /boot as booteable from an existing installation

I'm going to reinstall Arch and I have a silly question. Here is my current partition scheme

sda 8:0 0 59,6G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 1M 0 part
├─sda2 8:2 0 150M 0 part /boot
├─sda3 8:3 0 30G 0 part /
└─sda4 8:4 0 29,5G 0 part /home
sdb 8:16 0 931,5G 0 disk
├─sdb1 8:17 0 3G 0 part [SWAP]
├─sdb2 8:18 0 10G 0 part /var
└─sdb3 8:19 0 918,5G 0 part /datos

In the beginner's guide it is said that if the existing partition scheme does not need to be changed, skip to the "Format the file systems" section. So as far as I understand, there is no need to change from which partition the system is going to boot, am I wrong?

Re: flag /boot as booteable from an existing installation

Since you say 'reinstall' I assume the /boot partition sda2 is already flagged bootable. So, if you are going to use the existing partitions, you shouldn't have to flag it again.

Really? Which are you using? sda or sdb? You can mount "/mnt" on any partition you choose. If you must create a boot partition, put it in front of all others, unless you just like beating the crap out of your hard drive. No offense intended and please forgive he expression but you're pole-vaulting over a mouse turd. Keep it simple: sdx1= root, sdx2= home, sdx3= swap (if required- your decision there). If you make it too complicated you may find yourself dealing with many problems later on down the road if not from the outset. FWIW, when I format, I set the boot flag on my root partition which is always sdx1. As always, opinions may differ.

Good luck.

All the best,
