libinput touchpad too sensitive

I've recently switched to a Dell Latitude E7240 as my main laptop and performed a fresh install. I chose xf86-input-libinput over xf86-input-evdev and xf86-input-synaptics as it seems that it will be the standard in the future.
Everything works so far, however the touchpad is really sensitive. It responds to touch when my hand hovers over the actual pad. When I two-finger-scroll with my right hand and press the left "mouse button" with my left thumb, the scrolling is all over the place, randomly jumping up and down as my thumb is registered as another (third) touch.
When I install xf86-input-synaptics instead it doesn't have that issue and I can finetune that behavior with synclient. Is there an equivalent to this for libinput?

I checked the following:

 xinput list-props 12
Device 'AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint':
	Device Enabled (138):	1
	Coordinate Transformation Matrix (140):	1.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000

	Device Product ID (265):	2, 8
	libinput Drag Lock Buttons (297):	<no items>
libinput Horizonal Scroll Enabled (266):	1

None of these options seem to do what I want. Any pointers?
Thanks in advance.

Re: libinput touchpad too sensitive

You may have to ask the libinput maintainers to add a workaround to the udev hwdb:

Re: libinput touchpad too sensitive

Did you find a solution for libinput? It drives me nuts how extremely sensitive my touchpad is...  I'm trying to reduce the sensitivity of my Lenovo T430s Touchpad as it even recognizes my two fingers swipes if I hover over it. If i understand it correctly, I have to use "libinput measure (touchpad-pressure|touch-size)" as described here. But both commands are throwing errors "Error: device does not have (ABS_MT_PRESSURE|ABS_MT_TOUCH_MAJOR)". What am I doing wrong?

Re: libinput touchpad too sensitive

I didn't have to find a solution back then. It was fixed for me with the very next update of libinput. Unfortunately the issue has returned with the most recent version so I just went back to installing xf86-input-synaptics. Not a solution, I know, but it works for me.
Also, I don't think it's considered good form to bump an almost two year old thread instead of creating one of your own. So be prepared for this thread to be closed shortly.

Re: libinput touchpad too sensitive

I have the same issue, touchpad is too sensitive with libinput driver. It happened after some of updates.
$ sudo libinput measure touchpad-pressure

Using SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: /dev/input/event11
Error: device does not have ABS_MT_PRESSURE

So it is impossible to use wayland touchpad pressure hack.
