Hi.
After trying to update system by "pacman -Syu", I see that new packages are selected: networkmanager, bluez, wpa_supplicant and few others. This is due making it dependencies of powerdevil - which I have installed. But is it really necessary? Not everybody want to change network configuration and use networkmanager or need bluetooth.
Also I can't uninstall powerdevil by "pacman -R powerdevil". I got this message:
checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: plasma-desktop: removing powerdevil breaks dependency 'powerdevil'
Even that on package page "plasma-desktop" is selected as optional dependency. What is going on?

It's optional now, it wasn't before. Make sure you're up to date.

Install the updates first and after that remove powerdevil. I had monitor blanking issue which was result of powerdevil removal but is sorted now after setting dpms in x.

Removing powerdevil is a workaround, but a suboptimal one - I can't suspend my PC anymore, it seems.
edit: installed powerdevil-git and edited the PKGBUILD to use non-git version of the dependencies, works so far.

I ended up by forcing powerdevil removal by
pacman -Rdd powerdevil
pacman -Syu
pacman -Dk
I tag thread solved, as "powerdevil" dependency will not be changed by upstream up to next version, but patch is ready.

Isn't the question why powerdevil now needs networkmanager, for example? I note that it is not necessary to USE it. I still use netctl. But I have to install it, it seems, to use Plasma desktop. And I'm just curious whether this is really necessary.
