Hi, today Skype released a alpha skype version, https://community.skype.com/t5/Linux/Sk … -p/4434299
I was trying to install, but I have no idea where to start building a pkg info to make a package and install it.
What I need to read (and understand) to be able to install this or anything else.
Tried dpkg and show me this:
skypeforlinux depends on libfreetype6 (>= 2.4.2); :
Reading database ... 107 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack .../skypeforlinux-64-alpha.deb ...
Unpacking skypeforlinux (1.1.0.21) over (1.1.0.21) ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of skypeforlinux:
skypeforlinux depends on gconf-service; however:
Package gconf-service is not installed.
skypeforlinux depends on libasound2 (>= 1.0.16); however:
Package libasound2 is not installed.
skypeforlinux depends on libatk1.0-0 (>= 1.12.4); however:
Package libatk1.0-0 is not installed.
skypeforlinux depends on libc6 (>= 2.12); however:
Package libc6 is not installed.
skypeforlinux depends on libcairo2 (>= 1.6.0); however:
Package libcairo2 is not installed.
skypeforlinux depends on libcups2 (>= 1.4.0); however:
Package libcups2 is not installed.
skypeforlinux depends on libdbus-1-3 (>= 1.2.14); however:
Package libdbus-1-3 is not installed.
skypeforlinux depends on libexpat1 (>= 2.0.1); however:

Package libfontconfig1 is not installed.
skypeforlinux depends on libfreetype6 (>= 2.4.2); however:
Package libfreetype6 is not installed
dpkg: error processing package skypeforlinux (--install):

I am wondering how to make this works on arch.
Thanks for your help.

It's a very straight forward learning process. Assimilate this information and return with specific questions: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PKGBUILD

dpkg? Are you trying this on debian, or did you actually install dpkg from the AUR and try to install packages that way?
Besides the link above, also read up on the format of a debian package. For example:

@Awebb thanks for the info, I just want to learn about pkbuild
@Alad I tried on arch linux, to get more info about why I can't install it (to check the dependencies )
@SuGaRAddiCTeD Thanks I am going to review the pkginfo to learn!
Thanks for all the info

Wow I just tried skype alpha after seeing this thread...
Hahaha it is really a joke, it's just a web renderer and until now it not even has video calling.
It was just a waste of time trying it...
They write "Our Linux users are very important to us." hahaha after two years not updating skype for linux they dare to say such things!?

What did you contribute?
You are right, I didn't contribute anything.
Don't get me wrong I am happy about anyone trying to contribute, e.g. by learning how to make PKGINFOs etc.
However, still surprising that Skype writes that Linux users are very important to them. But yes the arch forum is not the right place to rant.
