I have some files that take up 4 lines in my thunar file manager and it's unsightly. Is it even possible to hide characters after 20 or so? Example: name12345678901234567890.file looks like name123456.

Well, first of all, what are the files and why are they there? "Hiding" the extra characters is probably not the solution you want. The actual solution would depend on the given question.

just anything with a large file name. --Dragon Ball Super - 050 - Goku VS Black! The Path to the Future Gets Closed [DragonTeam][4BE78135]-- is one very good example lol. Sorry I can't be more specific. I don't really know how to explain what I want clearly.

Well about the only thing you can do to "hide" a file is put a dot as the very first character: "." So, ".hidden.txt" would not show up (unless you show hidden files in your file manager) while "hidden.txt" will show up. Depending on how specific applications access the file that may or may not help you.

I don't want to hide the file itself, just make the title appear shorter in the file manager. As of now the drive i store my videos only displays 12 files because the names are so long whereas other directories can display 50 or 60 files.

I do not believe Thunar has the option to only show partial file names. You could try a different file manager or rename the files to shorter names.

Know of any file managers that have the ability to do that?

You could try Nautilus.
To install "sudo pacman -S nautilus" - it shouldn't pull in too many dependencies.
To get rid of if you don't like it "sudo pacman -Rsn nautilus" - and that will also remove any dependencies you pulled in while installing it.

Thanks. I was going to go with nemo but i think i like nautilus more. Not only does it solve my problem but i think i like the layout more.
