[SOLVED] KDE Krunner not working

Heya!

Everytime I try to run krunner it does not show anything only a transparent border where the krunner thing should be. I cant do anytthing, it just shows an empty box at the top of my screen. When I run krunner from the command line I get this:

[jan@arch-jan ~]$ krunner

I have tried killing the service, rebooting multiple times, but nothing seems to work.
I really want to use krunner since it is one of the thing really attractive to me about the DE.

I hope someone can help me!

I am having the _EXACT_ same issue as the author.  I ran a coredumpctl gdb and the dump was of kcmshell5:

Re: [SOLVED] KDE Krunner not working

I am currently on Plasma 5.7 where the error occurs.  This occurred on 5.6.x as well.

I am also including the following gdb output:

Re: [SOLVED] KDE Krunner not working

You need to run "bt" in gdb after the segfault. Which version of libqalculate do you have?

Re: [SOLVED] KDE Krunner not working

If you're fully up to date, then there's not much else we can do here. Report it upstream, with a full backtrace with debug symbols if possible.

Re: [SOLVED] KDE Krunner not working

Strange. It works for me. My output of krunner inside of gdb;

gdb --args krunner
GNU gdb (GDB) 7.11.1
Copyright (C) 2016 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
License GPLv3+: GNU GPL version 3 or later <http://gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html>

This GDB was configured as "x86_64-pc-linux-gnu".
Type "show configuration" for configuration details.

Find the GDB manual and other documentation resources online at:
For help, type "help".
Type "apropos word" to search for commands related to "word"...
Reading symbols from krunner...(no debugging symbols found)...done.
(gdb) catch throw
Catchpoint 1 (throw)
(gdb) run
Starting program: /usr/bin/krunner
[Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]
Using host libthread_db library "/usr/lib/libthread_db.so.1".
[New Thread 0x7fffe1a41700 (LWP 1230)]
[New Thread 0x7fffdb958700 (LWP 1231)]

[Thread 0x7fffe1a41700 (LWP 1230) exited]
[Inferior 1 (process 1226) exited normally]
(gdb)

But when I run krunner from konsole before this, I noticed, that:

krunner
KCrash: Application 'krunner' crashing...
Segfaulted...

but krunner works.
When I run krunner from konsole after gdb it works without any notice about crashing.

@Amorandron, @long.dave & @DebuchedSloth - Maybe output of:

/usr/lib/qt/bin/qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation

(put it somewhere) will be more useful for anybody.

Well, here you go:

It provides information about the currently running instance, which options are used,
what OpenGL driver and which effects are running.

This package was pushed precisely to fix this bug, so nothing strange about it. Also, fix your locale. You have set a LC_NUMERIC that doesn't exist on your system.
