Re: virtualbox - no usb devices as user in the vboxusers group

You are not making this easy wink You've done everything correctly as far as I can tell.   So, probing a little further, what are the output of lsmod | grep vbox
?
On my system, I have vboxnetflt, vboxnetadp, vboxpci, and vboxdrv kernel modules loaded.

Also, I am ssh'ed into my system at home where I can run VBoxManage list usbhost as my normal user.  I can see all my USB devices, *but* I don't have a VM running.  Is your VM running when you issue that command?

Re: virtualbox - no usb devices as user in the vboxusers group

lsmod | grep vbox:

vboxnetflt 28672 0
vboxnetadp 28672 0
vboxpci 24576 0
vboxdrv 385024 3 vboxnetadp,vboxnetflt,vboxpci

VM is not running and If it is, output is same:

Host USB Devices:

<none>

but with sudo i get list:

Re: virtualbox - no usb devices as user in the vboxusers group

I'm out of ideas.

One last long-long-long shot how about \VBoxManage list usbhost  ?
(Note the leading backslash)
On a similar tangent, what is the output of which VBoxManage    ?
Can you verify that VBoxManage is a soft link to VBox  ?
What is the output of whereis VBox     ?

Yes I can confirm that VBoxManage is linked to the VBox. BUT i discover something:

1) rm -fr .config/VirtaulBox
2) VBoxManage list usbhost (it shows usb devices)
3) virtualbox (just star vb and then exit)
4) VBoxManage list usbhost (there is no usb devices anymore)

What about that? It's really strange this... do I have GHOST on the file system or what...

Whole Arch system is on SSD disk. ext4 is file system.

files created on the first run of VBoxManage:

-rw------- 1 barko users 1184 jul 18 22:30 compreg.dat
-rw------- 1 barko users 2933 jul 18 22:35 VBoxSVC.log
-rw------- 1 barko users 2532 jul 18 22:34 VBoxSVC.log.1
-rw------- 1 barko users 2933 jul 18 22:30 VBoxSVC.log.2
-rw------- 1 barko users 26378 jul 18 22:30 xpti.dat

files after virtualbox started:

-rw------- 1 barko users 1184 jul 18 22:30 compreg.dat
-rw------- 1 barko users 1132 jul 18 22:38 selectorwindow.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 barko users 287412 jul 18 22:38 vbox-ssl-cacertificate.crt
-rw------- 1 barko users 2310 jul 18 22:38 VBoxSVC.log
-rw------- 1 barko users 2933 jul 18 22:35 VBoxSVC.log.1
-rw------- 1 barko users 2532 jul 18 22:34 VBoxSVC.log.2
-rw------- 1 barko users 2933 jul 18 22:30 VBoxSVC.log.3
-rw------- 1 barko users 1374 jul 18 22:38 VirtualBox.xml
-rw------- 1 barko users 1232 jul 18 22:38 VirtualBox.xml-prev
-rw------- 1 barko users 26378 jul 18 22:30 xpti.dat

I do not see any strange things in there...

btw thank you for trying! smile

EDIT: false alarm, it's same in time, without reason i can't see usb devices anymore even if i delete .config/VirtualBox folder... my pc is cursed or something.

Re: virtualbox - no usb devices as user in the vboxusers group

Looks like it may be a bug with virtualbox.

Try installing aur/virtualbox-bin though I doubt it will fix the issue.

Thanks for suggestion, but I did this already. No luck.
