I'm having problems booting Arch on a MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2008)
I can boot into a usb with no issues but after installing arch onto my MBP and rebooting it halts with the following
/dev/sda7: clean, 39610/393216 files, 305285/1572864 blocks
I have edited grub and removed quiet and now it gives more details and halts at the following line.

Cursor stops blinking.

a little more info
/dev/sda4 is arch bootloader for apple (i can confirm that this works)
/dev/sda5 is swap (configured by mkswap)
/dev/sda6 is formatted to ext2 and is boot
/dev/sda7 is formatted to ext4 and is root
/dev/sda8 is formatted to ext4 and is var
/dev/sda9 is formatted to ext4 and is home
It is a clean install via pacstrap and the only alterations I have made up to now are the following.
I've set a hostname and my home username (both are the same name, not sure if that is an issue)
I've also installed sudo and edited with visudo
I've also set the locale
Other than that nothing else has been configured.
