I just realised that pstopdf was removed from last cups-filters version (1.10), as stated here: https://fossies.org/diffs/cups-filters/1.9.0_vs_1.10.0/
I couldn't find any info on the reasons, or if there exists an alternative way to get this filter. I need it for my printer to work, a Xerox Phaser 3020 that unfortunately has a closed-source driver for Linux. Do someone know of an alternate way to print, apart from downgrading? This is working currently, but I think it's a matter of time until cups-filters 1.9 becomes incompatible with the newest cups version.

from https://fossies.org/linux/misc/cups-fil … .10.0/NEWS :
- pstopdf: Make the filter only get installed if Ghostscript is
present and also moved its conversion rules into the
cupsfilters-ghostscript.convs file.
Do you have ghostscript installed ?
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Yes, I do

Whether ghostscript is installed by MartinZ or not is irrelevant. The packager needs ghostscript installed or it won't get into the package.
The trouble is that pstopdf has been removed from the Makefile. So far as I can tell pstopdf won't get made for any reason.

It was merged with the gstoraster filter (http://bzr.linuxfoundation.org/loggerhe … ision/7480).
@MartinZ What error messages do you get when you try to print? Perhaps there is a workaround of some sort. It might also be worthwhile filing a bug upstream; I'm not sure would be responsible, but possibly with cups-filters?
If I understand things correctly, gstopdf does the same thing as pstopdf, so you might be able to just symlink pstopdf to gstopdf as a workaround for now.

The symlink did the trick!
I guess this should be created by cups-filter, or is this a non-acceptable way to fix the problem at package level?
I don't remember the exact phrase I was getting, but it was something like "pstopdf not found"

If you do need pstopdf for your driver to work then it is probably worthwhile filing a bug upstream; this will also affect other distros, so not something to be fixed in the Arch cups-filters package.
I doubt that the driver will ever be updated, but you could also look at filing a bug with the driver developers.
