This is just a shot in the dark, I guess the hardware I bought is not working. Still, wanted to see if anyone here had anything to say about this.
I took the plunge and got a Lite-On keyboard to replace the Chicony my T440s came with. However, after replacing the keyboard the trackpoint is not working. Everything else works fine.
Is there a difference in the trackpoint on the Lite-On than that of the one I had on the Chicony? Maybe the ID of the two are different but does that matter? I thought the reference was to "tpps/2 ibm trackpoint" in all the config files I can see (the X11 ones). Everything works fine with the old keyboard.

FWIW, in Xorg.0.log I have the following (note the "ignoring this device" bit in the final rows). Any clues how to solve this? Much appreciated.

I've deemed this to be a hardware issue. I've gone back to the old one. At least it is working.
