[SOLVED] KDE Plasma Powerdevil Ignoring Lid and Power Settings

I recently did a full clean install on my laptop, just to clean things up and fresh my build. Everything was secure erased on SSD, no traces of old config left.

Everything went well, but after a few days I notice my screen never blanks after 5 minutes like I set it to, and also the system will suspend when the lid is closed, no matter what I set in power settings.

I have confirmed power management is running under background services in systemsettings5, and tried giving a full shutdown and bootup.

Here is the journalctl output during a simple closing of my lid. Only 30 secs worth of the journal here, but still quite a bit of output. Since I'm not seeing this reported elsewhere, I assume it is misconfiguration on my part, so going to try here on the forums.

FYI -- system boots normally, with SDDM enabled. I am able to hibernate, suspend, and resume manually. I also have Intel only hardware. Sandy Bridge CPU with open source drivers.

Okay seems the issue wasn't powerdevil at all, but lies with systemd-logind on this laptop.

After watching the journal during the close operation, I edited "/etc/systemd/logind.conf" and uncommented the "HandleLidSwitch=suspend" to "HandleLidSwitch=ignore".

Now the system doesn't suspend, but it will if I set it in power management. I never had this problem on my old install, even when it was up to date.

Concerning the suspension issue: I had the same problem.
Setting HandleLidSwitch=ignore in /etc/systemd/logind.conf solved the problem.

By the way, you can reload the settings in logind.conf without restarting the system with
# systemctl restart systemd-logind.service

Thanks, I've finally found the cause of my issue.

I wrote `HandleLidSwitch=ignore # default: suspend` which is invalid and lead to
systemd-logind[8925]: [/etc/systemd/logind.conf:24] Failed to parse handle action setting, ignoring: ignore # default: suspend

when loading the conf.

So moving the comment on the next line solved the issue.

Thanks for this, It is that systemd stuff that drives me mad and that destroyed Arch's KISS logic forever. It's great to have it, but your system is exactly like Windows, completely unpredicatable, unlogical. Logind handles my laptop lid ? Took me an hour to figure that out, although if your system does stupid stupid stupid stuff it's always systemd. You can configure KDE power settings for ever if we have that zombie in the background
