I have an issue where all my QT5 applications look fine, but QT4 applications have a light, hard to read, grey font. I don't know how to change it. I've tried using qtconfig-qt4 to no avail. Here's an image of the problem:
Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure k3b is a QT4 application because it shows up in ~/.config/Trolltech.conf
In any event, according to this, in a KDE5 environment, QT4 applications will mimic QT5 applications. This should give me a nice readable black font.
qtconfig-qt4 looks correct. But not my actual QT4 applications.
Anything else I can check? I'm not sure if it's important, but the link I posted above mentions /etc/xdg/Trolltech.conf as the main are for configuring qt looks, and I don't seem to have that file on my system.

What kind of system do you have ?
At here, with the KDE plasma desktop (KF5/Plasma 5) the KDE 4 applications are reading the color information from the ~/.kde4/share/config/kdeglobals.
With the Breeze color scheme the K3b tip of the day is looking:

The K3b tip of the day is using 'ForegroundNormal' (window) color from the ~/.kde4/share/config/kdeglobals.

Hot damn, thank you so much! I've asked in IRC several times and nobody came up with this.
I just changed ForegroundNormal to 255,0,0 and it's a nice black font now.
What GUI application changes these values? I'm mystified as to why something like qtconfig-qt4 doesn't update these values.
