I have followed these guides with no luck in displaying correct resolution on an external monitor of:

In the Dell specific link, i disabled the NVIDIA card so i am running intel only. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. Any help at all with the issue will be greatly appreciated.

Hi aposteeltje,
Thanks for your reply.
I have copied and adjusted settings to suit my hardware. Still no luck, are you running Gnome? im wondering if GDM may have something to do this because its over riding the position of the monitor also. My secondary monitor is above my laptop, even tho i used your settings of
Option "LeftOf" "HDMI1"
Also are you running integrated and dedicated GPU?
Thanks

This is DE/WM independent, because we're editing Xorg here.
I'm running i3 next- gaps, and using SDDM as DM (Display Manager)
Using a acer aspire Notebook, with integraded Intel Graphics GPU

Ok Thanks,
Any suggestions?
How can i tell what the bus ID of my HDMI out is? or tell what GPU is associated with it? (i cant find this info anywhere)
I have a feeling it may be something to do with the multiple GPU's
