Hello, I'm new to this forum. Someone installed arch Linux for me quite some time ago. Loved it because it was way faster than Ubuntu and endlessly configurable.
But now, ~1 year later, lightdm decides to leave me hanging. Yesterday evening, I've spent ~7 hours to get it working again but it won't do. I've gotten so desperate, that I've manually typed the registration-question and answer for joining this forum multiple times, on a 4" phone, multiple times (I have no other computer at my disposal)
So, here's the story. I boot, nothing happens. Just a static caret in de top left corner

I switched to tty2, checked systemctl status lightdm

Weird

At this point I'm really desperate. I have no idea what to do next.

Hi,
I'm newbie itself and stumbled upon your question.
If no one provides a better solution, what I would try at your place is to remove lightdm and install another display manager.
Also perhaps to upgrade the system with
pacman -Syu
?
Just a guess from another newbie ;-)
