I have tint2 + openbox and I have strange behavior. When I run an application it shows corretly in the tint2 taskbar, when I launch the "about dialog" its window appears also in the taskbar, thing with xfce4-panel doesn't happen. Do I need to configure openbox nor tint2 to avoid this?

I don't think tint2 currently supports icon grouping.

HoaS, this isn't grouping like discussed in the linked discussion. That is grouping top-level windows from multiple instances of the same program. The OP is talking about child windows (generally with a transient-for hint) of a single program instance.
I thought this was the default behavior from when I last used tint2. I just checked the source code, and it seems it should be according to lines 75-82 of src/util/window.c. I may test later to confirm. Joel, can you post xprop output from the "about" window?

I tried this with vlc and the "about" window is not shown in the tint2 task bar, there's only the main window shown.
Can you post your ~/.config/tint2/tint2rc so as I can compare with mine to see if an option is the cause of this?
