Dimming screen brightness to minimum turns it off

Hi all.

I have a Dell XPS 15 9550 (late 2015) on which I installed Arch with Cinnamon.

When I use Cinnamon's brightness slider or the Fn keys to dim the screen brightness to minimum, the screen turns off completely.
Before using Cinnamon, I tried Plasma and Gnome, with which I didn't have this issue.

When writing 0 to /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness the screen also turns off but I assume this is normal so I think it's a Cinnamon related issue.
How can I make Cinnamon dim the brightness to minimum without turning it off?

My screen doesn't turn off when I set /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video1/brightness to 0. It just turns very dark and I'm glad that I'm able to use the darkest possible setting with Cinnamon. I don't know if turning off the screen at 0 is expected.
