I noticed that at every login, slim is using more memory... But if I telinit 3 and telinit 5 again, the ram-usage is back like before (I start slim from inittab). Does anyone know why this happens, and how it can be prevented?
(at first login, the whole desktop used 15% of 512MB ram - after loads of re-logins, it's on 51%. Slim seems to be what's growing.)

Now I tried killing slim, logged in and took a "ps aux|grep slim" once, then logged out and in again 20 times and took a new "ps aux|grep slim". Here is the info about slim before and after the 20 logins:
root 22279 20.2 1.6 11560 8280 ? Ss 14:14 0:03 /usr/bin/slim
root 22279 18.5 15.0 80752 77476 ? Ss 14:14 0:34 /usr/bin/slim
The one at the top is before... After 20 relogins the ram usage has grown almost 10 times bigger.

I wonder if this might have something to do with slim's log file. I noticed mine had grown to hefty 864 Mb! And has then set it to /tmp.

Mine was a bit over a hundred megabytes... But even if I re-login plenty of times and then remove the log file, slim continues to grow at every login! And if I restart X and login with slim, it works at low RAM usage again even if I don't remove the log file... I think I'll just submit a bug...

Yep, and about the logfile, too.
Mine got up to 500MB before I noticed it and delete it.
[I do not use a login manager at the time anyway]

my slim log is now 500k big. It's first entry is from March 06.
I'd have to use my box like I used it for the last 2 months for the next 200 monts to become the log 500MB. That'd be 16 years!!
What the hell are you doing???
