Hi,
I have a Samsung slate 7 tablet and have been running arch for almost three years now without
problems. Now, since the update to linux version 4.7 my internal screen stopped working.
I still see the grub menu but after that I only get a short blinking cursor and then a blank screen.
If I start linux with "nomodeset" the monitor works just fine (wrong resolution though) so its not a
problem of the hardware.
I've tried several suggestions I found here in the forums without any luck. I'm a little bit stuck
right now as I don't know how to debug this problem further.
xrandr shows a wrong resolution with a false rate:
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 2560 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192
LVDS1 connected 640x480+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm
640x480 63.10*+ 59.94
The actual resolution should be 1366x768@60Hz.
Here's what I've tried:
I disabled early KMS start, turned off/on all (recommended) kernel parameters for the i915 module
and went through the journal without any luck.
I am not shure what is wrong because I don't get an error message; the only thing that
seems a little bit strange to me is that the edid file for LVDS-1 device in
/sys/class/drm/card0-LVDS-1/
is empty.
My graphics card is a
lspci grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
and I use the x86-video-intel driver.
Any ideas or pointers are highly appreciated.
Edit:
I forgot to mention that downgrading to 4.6 fixes this error.
